Call for Applications: 1st One Health Young Leaders Bootcamp

We are thrilled to announce that the Philippine One Health University Network (PhilOHUN), in partnership with the University of the Philippines - Los Banos Program for Zoonotic Diseases (UPLB-PZD), will conduct the first One Health Young Leaders Bootcamp on July 08-12, 2024 at the UPLB.


With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Southeast Asia One Health University Network (SEAOHUN), this program will nurture young professionals in the dynamic field of One Health.


The Bootcamp will bring together students and young professionals from One Health-related fields, such as medicine, veterinary science, environmental science, and public health, among others. It will facilitate experiential learning through immersive seminars, workshops, and fieldwork to equip the participants with the requisite knowledge, skills, and networks to emerge as influential leaders in the One Health movement.


Additionally, a proposal writing and pitching competition will be conducted to empower participants to craft innovative projects and initiatives within the realm of One Health. This platform will allow participants to refine their ideas and potentially secure funding from partners and funding agencies to bring their visions to fruition.


Program Highlights:


●       Exploration of zoonotic diseases, environmental health, food security, emerging infectious diseases, and sustainable development.

●       Interactive sessions led by esteemed experts, fostering interdisciplinary problem-solving approaches and real-world application of One Health principles.

●       Emphasis on experiential learning through collaborative projects addressing pressing One Health issues.

●       Mentorship opportunities for personalized guidance and support in navigating One Health initiatives.


Eligibility criteria for application


  1. The application to the Bootcamp is open to bona fide students, young professionals, and academicians involved in the One Health domain and affiliated with universities holding membership in PhilOHUN (Philippine One Health University Network). Click HERE for the list of member universities.

  2. Applicants must meet the age requirement of being 18 to 35 years old.


Application and screening process

  2. Applicants will be asked to attach the following documents:

    1. curriculum vitae (CV)

    2. An essay that expresses their enthusiasm, practical experience, dedication to the One Health paradigm, and their envisioned project's connection to it. Additionally, applicants should specify the specific area within One Health where their skills and interests align.

Expenses Covered and Fellowship Duration

  1. PhilOHUN will cover accommodation, meals, and other related costs during the bootcamp period.

  2. Round trip travel expenses from the participant's residence to the venue will be covered if the participant resides outside the venue's city. (Terms and conditions apply)
